A joint venture between Samsung x Walmart – Our team set out on a mission to create a curbside delivery robot, where customers can shop through their app and have a contactless delivery to their car. We created a shopping app and worked with our I.D. designers and engineers to create a one-of-a-kind experience.

Our Problem

Hypermarkets are becoming hectic and troublesome for some busy families to visit. Delivery fees and tipping have gone through the roof, and stores also need to employ delivery runners to drop off orders.

Our Solution

We set out to create a seamless experience where hypermarket shoppers can buy and check out from their app with an option for curbside delivery.  Once the order is placed and the user selects a delivery window, they can go about their business, until it is time to pickup. The user then gets a notification once the order is ready, and upon arrival, the app alerts the delivery robot, that the customer is parked in the designated pickup spot.

To test this, we partnered with Samsung's Galaxy Cafe and created a platform where employees can order lunch through an app we built, and have food delivered to them.

Our design team worked hand and hand with I.D. designers and engineers to build a prototype robot that could carry out all the requirements. The results were astonishing!

To show the overall process, I worked with our motion designer, Eunji Kim, to create a short that demonstrates the experience.
